Post-video quiz · V-011
+ Add questionVideo: “What the house edge is, and who pays it” · 1:48 · Betting maths. This quiz belongs to this video alone. It does not draw from the Arena question bank — the two libraries are kept separate and never share questions.
The token reward here is read-only
The reward is a system-wide constant, held in one place in system settings, and changing it takes two approvers. This page has no token field, no difficulty multiplier and no random reward.
There is no countdown
A post-video quiz has no time limit, no ticking seconds and no suspense effects. A learner can rewatch the video and come back to answer.
Settings for this quiz
Not passing means rewatching the video and trying again. No tokens are lost and there is no penalty.

Shuffling the order is fine. Shuffling the reward is not.
The four questions
Question 1 · E06-0118-1
Odds of 1.85 mean an implied probability of roughly what?
Explanation shown after answering: 1 ÷ 1.85 = 54.1%. That figure includes the displayed market margin. It is not, by itself, the true underlying probability or a forecast of the result.
Question 2 · E06-0118-2
Both sides of the same match are priced at 1.85 and 1.95. The implied probabilities add up to 105.3%. What is the part above 100%?
Explanation: the 5.3 percentage points above 100% are the displayed overround, also called the market margin. They are not literally an amount the bookmaker keeps on every result. Normalising this two-outcome book gives a separate theoretical hold of about 5.1%.
Question 3 · E06-0118-3
Who bears the cost of the normalised house edge over repeated equivalent bets?
Explanation: each displayed price contains part of the market margin. After the book is normalised, the edge describes a negative long-run expectation across repeated equivalent bets. It is not a separate fee collected before every match, and it does not mean every individual bet loses.
Question 4 · E06-0118-4 Draft — not live
Bet long enough against a 5% house edge and what is your long-run expectation?
This question only has three options. Single-answer questions need at least four, so it cannot go live yet.
Rules for a post-video quiz
- Between 3 and 5 questions. Below 3 it cannot be saved as live; above 5 the “Add question” button locks itself.
- Every question needs exactly one correct answer and one line of explanation. Without the explanation the video cannot complete a learning loop.
- The player's submit button only unlocks once active_screen_time matches the real length of the video. You have to watch it before you can answer.
- Retaking a quiz does not pay tokens a second time. Tokens are tied to the first completion.
These rules are checked when you save, so they are not left to whoever happens to be writing.
The question bank holds Arena questions: they carry a difficulty level, are drawn at random, and are used head to head. A post-video quiz is bolted to one video, has no difficulty level, is never drawn at random, and is the only way a player earns tokens.
Mixing the two would turn Arena questions into a roundabout way of minting tokens.
If you need questions for the Arena, open the question bank.
The draft can be saved, but it cannot be applied to V-011 until E06-0118-4 has at least four answer options.
