Test it before you bet it.
With tokens you earn by learning,
not with your money.
tibbi is an educational tool. You watch short lessons on how betting actually works, earn tokens for finishing them, then take those tokens into a simulated betting screen and watch what happens across a few dozen bets. Every decision lands somewhere in a simulated life — House, Job, Car, Friends, Family — where losses build up and some things, once they are gone, stay gone.
No deposits · no withdrawals · no connection to any bookmaker · no real bets are ever placed
This is not a bookmaker, and it is not an advertisement for one
- There is no deposit button. No payment endpoint, no in-app purchase, no promo code that converts money into tokens. It does not exist in the code or the database.
- Tokens cannot be bought and cannot be cashed out. New tokens come from exactly two places: completing a lesson, and reaching a fixed Showdown milestone.
- No withdrawals, no secondary market. Tokens stay inside your account and end there.
- No links, logos or brand colours from real bookmakers. Team names in the simulation are anonymised — Team A against Team B.
- No promise of helping you win. There are no tips, no selections, no expert previews. If that is what you came for, this is the wrong place.
- Odds are never adjusted to you. Not to your win-loss history, not to your mood, not to how much you use the app.
These six statements are technical constraints with a verification checklist that runs before every release. They are not marketing promises, and none of them can be switched on later by a setting.
Why the ACT needs something like this
The four figures below come from the 2024 ACT Gambling Survey, which surveyed 10,007 adults. They are the whole reason this project exists.
Read together: more than half of adults gambled, about one in six was harmed, and almost nobody went looking for help. Nearly every tool we have — helplines, self-exclusion — sits at the end of that path, and only reaches people who have already worked out they have a problem. tibbi tries to sit at the start of it, and reach people before they lose anything that matters.
The loop: learn, then play, then live with it
Learn to earn tokens
Videos of 60 to 120 seconds on house edge, near misses, chasing losses and how odds are built. Watch, then take the quiz. A completed lesson is one of the only two token sources; fixed Showdown milestones are the other. There is no purchase, top-up, gift or transfer. You cannot skip ahead, and you have to be on the screen to submit a quiz.
Token rewards are fixed and small, and never random, so that earning them never turns into a second game of chance.
Place a simulated bet
Take your tokens into a simulated betting screen running on real market odds. Before you can confirm anything, the screen shows you four numbers a real bookmaker never shows: the odds, the implied probability, a market-normalised estimate after removing the displayed margin, and the modelled long-run return. The estimate is not a forecast or the true underlying chance. That panel cannot be collapsed or dismissed.
Your running total of tokens lost stays on screen through this whole part of the app. There is no button to hide it.
Live with the consequences
Lose enough and the only way to keep betting is to sell off your simulated life: the Car, then the House, then the Job, then your Friends. Each sale puts a warning in front of you that you have to read. Family, once lost, is gone permanently — there is no restore button anywhere, including in the admin tools.
When a run ends, betting is locked for seven real days. The learning side stays open. It is a rehearsal for self-exclusion, before you need the real thing.
You will not find screenshots of the simulated betting screen on this page. Showing the betting experience to someone who has not passed the age check would turn this page into an advertisement for the very thing it warns you about.
This was built as a public health program, and it carries every constraint that comes with that
There is no revenue model that runs through you. No betting advertising, no referral commission, no microtransactions. If you leave the app part-way through to ring a counselling line, that counts as a good outcome here, not as churn.
Every mechanic has to answer one question: does this help someone understand something, or does it just keep them here longer? The second kind gets cut, even when it would make the numbers look better.
The services below are real, free, confidential and open 24 hours a day. You do not have to be a tibbi user to ring them.
Before you decide, the things a service like this should tell you
None of these are buried in a policy page nobody opens. They are the questions worth asking of anything that offers to help with gambling harm, and the answers are on their own pages.
Who runs this, and who checks it 🩺
The operating entity and its ABN, the named clinical adviser, exactly which content cannot ship without her approval, and what happens when she is unavailable.
Who pays, and what it costs you 💷
Nothing, ever. A grant from the ACT Gambling and Racing Commission, a placement fee from sponsors who buy reach and never people, and separate books between the two.
You would be joining a pilot 📋
Three months, 50 to 100 people, and a dated answer for what happens to every category of your data on the day it closes.
If it is someone else's gambling 🤝
What you can do today, what tibbi will never give you — no view of their account, no monitoring, no control — and why that is deliberate.
For counsellors and community workers 🧭
The whole route a referred client travels, who it will not suit, and the measurement question sets and safety checklist, free to reuse.
Accessibility, faults included ♿
Our WCAG 2.1 AA target, the barriers we know about and have not fixed yet, and the interpreter and relay numbers.
Ready to try it
The next step is the age check. If you are under 18 you cannot create an account, but the public pages and the support centre stay open to you.
Creating an account means you accept the Terms of use and 18+ declaration and the Privacy policy.
